Who are the SSMA?

The Soldiers of Saint Michael the Archangel (SSMA) are a Catholic men’s fraternity. We are men who seek to know God, strive to do His will, and live our faith to the fullest. The SSMA is made up a diverse group of spiritual soldiers, men of all ages and backgrounds coming together to lift one another up in Christ, aspiring together to daily conversion and missionary discipleship.

We are the men leading the next generation, the future of the Church, strong in our faith, emboldened, fervent and righteous. We are the men seeking to lead our families as prophets, priests, and kings. We are the husbands striving to love our brides as our Lord loves His Church.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Brothers of our Order are called to observe a lifestyle which will lead them closer to God and to his Son Jesus Christ, our Brother in arms who stands with us amidst the chaos of spiritual combat. May we be found fit Soldiers for the army of God.

Our Mission

The mission of the SSMA is to engage men in their faith, strengthen their prayer lives and help them grow to have a personal relationship with our Lord. It exists as a fraternal brotherhood devoted to aiding men in humbly becoming the prophets, priests, and kings they are called by God to be.

The SSMA is a training ground for men to become prayer warriors, soldiers in the holy army of Saint Michael the Archangel. This is a Spiritual Battle College, where we as men of God prepare for the spiritual conflicts we will face.

We embrace true, authentic Catholic masculinity, calling all men of faith to rise and become the men God created them to be. This is a call to battle!

This is the motto of our order. As a fraternity of Brothers we rise together, we strengthen one another, as iron sharpens iron. We live life every day in a way that renews our Baptismal promises and aspires to nothing less than Sainthood.

Our aim is to forge ourselves into worthy tools to be wielded in the hands of the Lord, through prayer, asceticism and the fraternal bonds that give us strength and hold us accountable. In order that we might always do His Will and radiate His light from within our hearts upon our fellow man.

Our Patron

Many Saints have set a firm foundation for an authentic Catholic masculine identity. Saint Joseph. Saint Paul. Saint John the Baptist. Saint George. Saint Benedict. Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Josemaria Escriva. Pope Saint John Paul II.

However, it is Saint Michael the Archangel who serves as our quintessential archetype of a soldier of God. The Prince of the Heavenly Host. Splendor and fortitude of the Church Militant. Strength of those who fight under the standard of the Cross. One who cried out “Who is like God?” and one who said “Serviam”, I serve.

We draw inspiration from this this powerful Saint. He calls us to battle. He protects us in spiritual combat. He leads the armies of God and we fervently desire to serve in those ranks.

We aspire to nothing less than sainthood as a soldier of Saint Michael the Archangel. We pray for his protection and his guidance as we drive back the forces of the evil one.

Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
